The trip starts by picking you up at your hotel or home then we will drive approx one hour to visit the town of Guitil which is famous for making ceramic pottery. This tradition of pottery making has been going on for hundreds of years and passed down for generations. They will give us a demonstration of the materials and tools that they use.
Then we will drive approx 20 minutes to another town where they will prepare a traditional home made lunch. Many people feel this is the best part of the trip.
Next we take a 2 hour boat trip along the Palo Verde National Park, one of two important wetlands areas in Costa Rica. On the boat trip we will have a chance to see a number of exotic birds (scarlet macaws, herons, egrets, kingfishers, and others) the birds in the area change by season. During March and April there is a 99% chance of seeing the scarlet macaws, the other months there is always a good chance that we will also see the macaws. We will also have a chance to see white face monkeys, green iguanas, crocodiles and many other animals, reptiles and birds. Depending on the season we may also do a little walking in the forest to try and see birds and animals that are not right on the river.
Then we drive back to your hotel (driving time approx 1 hour).
